Frequently Asked Questions

Isn't there something funny about a wedding website needing an FAQ?

What should I wear to the wedding?
Clothes.  Definitely wear clothes.  As for type of clothes, dressy rather than not.  I know there are "real categories" that Miss Manners would suggest, but since I'm not Miss Manners, we'd suggest suits for the men and cocktail-type dresses for the ladies.

What should I wear for hanging out in the Hospitality Suite?
Clothes.  Definitely wear clothes there, too.  As for type of clothes, jeans and t-shirts are fine.  If you aren't a jeans and t-shirt  kind of person, then wear whatever you're comfortable in.

What should I pack?
Casual clothes to hang out in the Hospitality Suite, swim suit, dressy clothes for the wedding, and don't forget your toothbrush.

What will there be to do in the Hospitality Suite?
Eat and talk and play games.  For those who are used to RG-style hospitality, we're not even trying to match that level of food.  We'll have pizza Friday night and sandwiches for lunch on Saturday.  Sweet snacks will be courtesy of Beth's mother, who is a fantastic-terrific baker.  Breakfast is on your own (unless you sleep late and lunch on Saturday is your breakfast).

Does the Doubletree hotel have a pool?
Yes, it does.  And it's indoors.  (That's why we suggest packing a swimsuit.) There is also a hot tub which is sometimes actually hot.

What's the weather like?
In June, it could be hot or it could be cool, which is probably the least helpful answer you can imagine getting.

Will it rain?
It's June.  In Dayton.  Who knows?  We've put in a request for good weather, but the weather bureaucracy kicked it back to us.

Who is DJing the dance?
John and Lorena, of course.  (This answer will be of interest only to those who know John and Lorena.)  The two of them are the DJs for many Mensa events in southwest Ohio.  Jennica says that John and Lorena are good DJs.  As long as we're still dancing (and the museum folk don't kick us out), John and Lorena will keep playing.

Is Beth (the bride one) changing her name?
(I saved this one for last because it appears that people are curious but don't want to pry)
"Beth Ward" is already taken, so I'm staying "Beth Weiss".  After all, I've had this name all my life.  I've gotten pretty comfortable with it.
